A Leicestershire cyclist has petitioned the government asking for cycle awareness to be a compulsory element in the practical driving test.  Cycle awareness is already covered in the theory driving test but is not a requirement of the practical test.  With so many articles in the news recently involving cyclists it is becoming evident that our road users may need extra guidance when it comes to cycle awareness.

The petition needs to receive over 100,000 signatures if it is to be debated in the House of Commons.

The petition already has the backing of a large number of professional cyclists including Chris Boardman and Dame Sarah Storey but needs extra support if it is make our roads a safer place.
